Adam’s blues

The Potter’s red

Hand breaks,

Makes manifold

Eve’s gold.

Behold!

Love is green.

Between the Lines:

Adam means “man of the red soil”.

Genesis 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Blues refers to loneliness, being incomplete, insufficient, and incapable in autonomy.

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Potter

Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Potter’s red has a double meaning:

  1. the red of the clay (man, woman, and humankind) that the Potter works, and
  2. the red of blood exposed in surgery.

Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

Hand breaks has two meanings, as well.

  1. working the clay sculpture, and
  2. removal of the rib for the purpose of curing the blues.

Makes

Genesis 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Eve means “life-giving”.

Manifold: various, diverse, many, assorted

The woman’s (original designed) capacity for the knowledge, skills, and abilities, the wisdom, virtues, and goodness necessary for pro-creational, vital life is the same as the man’s.

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

See also Proverbs 31:10-31.

Gold

Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

Love

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Green,

the color of life, is the result of the mixing of equal parts of blue and yellow.  Here, Adam’s blue combines with Eve’s gold to produce Divinely-inspired earthly love.

Genesis 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Green is not blue.  Green is not yellow.  In green, blue does not tyrannize yellow, and yellow does not usurp blue.  In green, blue and yellow submit to each another to make something new.

Evergreen

1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity (love).
